Praise to the Lord, the Almighty

Northchase ESL/Bible Study 9-22

Last night went really well. With all the local flooding from the rain over the past week there was a crowd of puddles to greet us, but the Lord blessed us with bright sunshine all day long! As a result there was a good turn out from the residents.

It is such a blessing to be able to communicate the Gospel to these people! The students in the intermediate class are reading through redemptive history and the Bible Study is learning about the person and work of Jesus Christ. Last night in the intermediate class we studied the United Kingdom under Kings Saul, David & Solomon.

(Photo taken from last week.)

In spite of the local deluge of rain and rough weather, everything went well tonight. By the Lord's grace, the worst of the weather slacked off around 6:45, so folks were able to make it out. We continue to be thankful for all the volunteers, especially in child-care. Child-care gives parents the ability to focus on their English while we watch their small children.

The beginning class studied health and the human body, while the Intermediate class worked on past and future verb tenses. We continue to go through redemptive history in the Intermediate class, which is awesome. This consists of summarizing climactic events in redemptive history, which they are required to read and digest each class. Many are hearing these Biblical accounts for the first time. Last week we studied Moses and the Law; this week we studied Joshua and they cycle of repentance and rebellion. Next week will be the United Kingdom of Israel under Saul, David, and Solomon.

The Bible study is always a blessing to teach, which combines both classes for about 15 minutes, and we continue to go through the miracles of Jesus. This week we focused on His healing of the leper as we emphasize the distinctness of Jesus. May the Lord continue to open the eyes of their hearts through these accounts of Scripture. May He also convict us as we strive to be patient with them, lest we forget how far He has taken us.

Sinners we were!
Now saints we be!
Let us strive to glorify Thee!
Amen! Amen!

Northchase ESL/Bible Study 9-8-09

The ESL ministry and Bible study continue to go well, and we are blessed to be able to do this work for the Kingdom of Christ. We continue to have 6-10 for the Intermediate class, 15-20 for the Beginning class, and 18-25 for the Bible Study afterwards.

ESL/Northchase 9-1-09

This image is from last week (no camera this week)

Everything went well this week at ESL! The beginning class went through tools and basic occupations, and the intermediate class went through adjectives. For the intermediate class the two readings were on going to the bank/post office and the account of Joseph. Next week will be Moses and the Law. The Bible study, which I started late when we got into a good discussion on Joseph in the intermediate class, went well. We continue to discuss the miracles of Jesus, and this week we focused on Jesus raising Lazarus from the dead. In all of these, Christ is showing that He is the long awaited Messiah, who is over all things. Christ is truly King of kings and Lord of lords! Amen!
