North Africa Summer '06

Day 2 Construction Site (modifications made for security purposes)

While the other camp is trying to get the latrine (squatty) project organized, we continue to run into snags here regarding the roadway drainage rerouting and the small bridge expansion. Another fellow and I did get to hangout with an early teen on the side of the mountain. The language barrier was tough, but a lot of drawing on rocks with my knife helped to communicate basic Biblical accounts that Muslims are aware of. We drew the Fall, the Flood, Moses parting the Red Sea, and mentioned David and Jesus. It was sad to see that this youngster was a bit ashamed of his head gear when we got near him, but I encouraged him not to take it off. The West imposes so much culture on the world, but most of it is godless and immodest. Even so, the view up there was incredible, and I'm ready to go trekking.
